Cabot Learning Federation students from Hans Price Academy and Broadoak Academy were joined by pupils from Uphill Primary and 25 residents from local Weston care homes to watch a scintillating performance of the comic opera The Pirates of Penzance performed by the Opera Holland Park which follows the story of Frederic, a member of a band of pirates.

Founded in 1996, Opera Holland Park is an opera company with a unique voice. Based in Kensington, they present a summer opera festival of fully staged productions in one of the most beautiful parks in the Capital.

Hosted at Hans Price Academy and watched by over 150 students and pupils Opera Holland Park are performing this tale of swashbuckling buccaneers to only twenty schools nationwide.

Before the start of the performance students were involved in a workshop which saw them singing, clapping, stamping their feet, and acting as pirates, a workshop that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Carlo Hooper, Unit Leader for Citizenship said, “This was a great cultural experience for our students and a fantastic opportunity to engage with our local community. Our Academy would like to thank Opera Holland Park for performing an amazing production of The Pirates of Penzance to our students and invited guests.”
