Free School Meals – October Half Term

South Gloucestershire Local Authority, in conjunction with South Gloucestershire schools and academy trusts have put the following two offers in place for vulnerable families over the Autumn October Half-Term holiday.

Emergency Assistance Grant Offer

Families eligible for free school meals can apply for a payment card by visiting South Gloucestershire One Stop Shops, contacting your local Citizens Advice Bureau or calling the Council on 01454 868009, successful applicants will receive a card within 48 hours with sufficient funds (£20) for meals for a week for their children that can be used in all main supermarkets and other retail outlets.

Food Parcel Offer

If you would prefer a food parcel, the Council have arranged for a number of local schools and academies to act as food parcel collection points on Thursday and Friday this week. To collect a food parcel please go to your local school or academy (even if your children don’t attend that school) between 11am-1pm on Thursday 29th or Friday 30th October.  The food parcels contain dried goods only and non-perishables.

Bristol City Council are providing support for families entitled to free school meals during the Autumn October Half Term. Vouchers can be collected from Children’s Centres (you will need to take ID) across Bristol or by contacting the local authority on 0800 694 0184.

The local Children’s Centres are listed below however you can collect from any centre in Bristol. Further information and a full list of Children’s Centres can be found on their website or by clicking here.

North Somerset Council are providing support for families entitled to free school meals during the Autumn October Half Term. The council is working with local community organisations and businesses to provide support. A list is available on the council’s website.

If you are unable to access this support you can contact the council to request an emergency welfare payment on 01934 888 053 or 0800 139 5665 between 10am and 4pm.
