Welcome from the Centre Lead

Engage aims to safeguard, inspire, encourage and support growth and confidence in all our young people, in all aspects of their life. We offer a balanced and broad curriculum and deliver qualifications in GCSEs and alternative qualifications.

We seek to work closely with families and professionals to get the best possible outcomes for our students. We aim to enable young people to address and improve their behaviour to a high standard. We also prepare them for responsibilities, opportunities and lifelong experiences through respect, care, equity and a partnership for their own journey.

Context of Engage

The CLF Engage provision is an early intervention educational engagement project, which serves the CLF Secondary schools. The school is based on site at Evergreen Primary School, Bristol.

Engage offers short and medium-term placements to students, who are struggling to thrive in mainstream settings and who need the opportunity to re-set and re-engage. The majority of our placements are 12-week placements, but we can also offer more bespoke packages depending on the need of the child.

We currently offer a part time placement for Year 11 students, working alongside schools, colleges and businesses for work experience; to form a tailored package for individual students which supports them in reaching their full potential.

Qualifications all students are offered:

GCSE Maths

GCSE English

Functional skills – Maths and English

AQA Unit Awards in Art, Cooking, Boxing, Science, Humanities and Creative Media.

Enrichment Activities – AQA Unit awards can be obtained through our programmes that rotate termly. This includes Boxing, Young Bristol and outdoor activities (caving, archery canoeing and many more).

Admissions are made through key staff that work alongside the young person, from mainstream CLF academies. A robust referral process ensures a supportive pathway into Engage.

Once we have received a detailed completed referral form, we will assess this to ensure we are the best provision to support the young person, meet their needs and offer a package of education and care.

The student and parent/carer will then visit Engage, supported by the referring school and their staff.

The meeting with the student and family is to support and answer questions regarding Engage and the level of support the young person may need. All relevant information to support the young person and family will be discussed during this time. Review meetings take place each fortnight to maintain a high standard of school, family and outside agencies working together to support the young person during their time at Engage.
