While we cannot know the future, the purpose of the CLF Strategy 2030 is to ensure the CLF is prepared and focused on meeting the challenges of this decade, while also providing hope and opportunities to our learners, our people and our communities; it is against the ideals of this narrative that work of the trust is monitored and its future success judged.
Equity Through Education is underpinned by three core strategies central to all trust activity. They guide decisions around development and improvement, while adhering to our commitment to create equity of opportunity, promote inclusion, remove disadvantage and reject discrimination.
The Core Enablers within the CLF Strategy provide the conditions, capability, and infrastructure required to deliver the trust’s core ambition of Equity Through Education.
While the Core Strategies define what the trust is seeking to achieve, the Enablers ensure that the organisation has the capacity, culture, and sustainability to deliver those ambitions consistently across all settings. Taken together, the Enablers:

This aligns with the framing of ‘Inclusive Excellence; High Expectations’ and the increasing focus on retention, culture and sustainability as critical to long-term impact.
Enabler strategies ensure the trust has the capacity, culture and sustainability to deliver Equity Through Education.
Each year Hans Price Academy appoints one Head of School and a number of deputies to support their work. These students lead the Year 11 prefect team and take part in a variety of leadership roles with peers and during public events to support the academy.
Our student leaders represent the academy at open events, support peers during social activities and act as key role models for students across all year groups. This year they will also play a key role in working with a year group to support their academic journey and in support of the Raising Standards Leaders in each year group.
This year, Koby has been appointed as Head of School and will be supported by a team of Deputy Heads of School, Brennan, Amelia, Alice and Sophie.
Principal Tony Searle said: “I am incredibly proud of the way in which the young people at Hans Price Academy continue to rise to the challenges we set them in their learning and the fantastic contributions they make to our community every day.
“These five students have demonstrated these qualities consistently over the course of a number of years at Hans Price Academy. This includes the work, effort and contributions they were able to make during their time studying online during the two national lockdowns.
“They are fantastic role models for students within, and beyond, our academy and I am delighted to be able to give them this opportunity. I very much look forward to working with them over the coming year.”

This autumn, all young people aged 12-15 are being offered a first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine at the same time as the annual flu vaccine, as part of the Government’s national effort. Students at Hans Price Academy started receiving their vaccines on Tuesday 28th September.
Children who were 12 years old and over on the day of the School Age Immunisation Service (SAIS) team visits, with the relevant parental consents in place, were offered a Covid-19 vaccination as part of the annual in-school vaccination programme.
Our local SAIS provider, Sirona Care & Health, is legally responsible for the delivery of the Covid-19 vaccine and the annual flu vaccine to pupils in our region of Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
Like all school-based vaccination programmes, these vaccinations are administered by Sirona Care & Health following their usual approach to school-based immunisation.
Parents and carers were contacted by the academy to confirm when the clinic would be held and to provide consent forms for both the flu and Covid-19 vaccines. The forms are processed solely by Sirona Care & Health and not by the academy.
Parents could provide consent for both the flu and the Covid-19 vaccine, for one or other of the vaccines or neither. Hans Price Academy is not be responsible for vaccines and so has no access to any of the consent data that was gathered.
All eligible pupils were asked to attend the clinic, where their consent data was checked by Sirona Care & Health staff. Pupils without the appropriate consents were not vaccinated.
Tony Searle Principal of Hans Price, said, “School-based immunisations are not a new thing. We have worked alongside the SAIS team and the NHS for many years to provide a space so they can immunise children against flu, HPV and Meningitis C, to name but a few over the years.
“We have continued this ongoing partnership working as they have introduced Covid-19 vaccinations into the programme this year.
“We understand that there are a wide range of views on vaccination and would like to reassure parents that children can only be vaccinated in school with consent from their parent.
“We welcome any opportunity to keep our young people, their families and our community safe. We hope that parents talked with their children and made informed choices as to whether vaccination against Covid-19 was the right thing for them and their family, using information from a wide range of reliable sources.”

Planning permission has been granted in an important step for the secondary school expansion, which is set to be located on a new site in Locking Parklands.
The decision paves the way for construction to begin later this year, with the facilities expected to open to pupils by 2023.
Funded through Homes England’s Housing Infrastructure Fund, the building will offer 900 school places, ensuring there is enough additional intake to support young people and growing families for years to come.
Similarly, the building has been designed with the future in mind, including on-site energy generation and a recycling centre to help reduce carbon emissions, as well as extra bike storage to provide pupils with a sustainable option of cycling to school.
The new Locking Parklands site will be developed as a space predominately for Key Stage 3 and 4 provision (Years 7 – 11) and the curriculum will specialise in environmental science and climate change.
Ian Garforth, Principal of Winterstoke Hundred Academy, said: “We are delighted that Winterstoke Hundred Academy students will get to learn in a state-of-the-art building that offers so many possibilities for their school experience.
“We’ve worked in close partnership with North Somerset Council and Kier to ensure that this academy will be great for our students now, and great for the students of the future too. Whether it’s Creative Arts, sports facilities, environmental sustainability, or community access, we are pleased that the WHA students will have outstanding facilities available to complement the facilities and resources that already exist.”
Cllr Catherine Gibbons, Executive Member for Children’s Services and Lifelong Learning said: “As North Somerset grows, it is vital that there are sufficient school places for our young people. As such, I am delighted to announce that this exciting school expansion has been given the go ahead.
“The building’s design promises bright and spacious facilities where young people can get the very best start in life. What’s more, the designs boast excellent green credentials, helping us all to do our bit to tackle the climate emergency, working towards North Somerset’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2030.”
