Sally Apps is Executive Principal responsible for the Secondary Phase. Since qualifying as an English teacher in Manchester in 2003, Sally’s career path followed literacy, standards and achievement, working in three schools en route to headship in 2013. Her first headship was as Principal of Bristol Metropolitan Academy, where she had previously been Vice Principal.
Sally takes system leadership seriously, and currently works alongside the Department of Education as a member of the South West Headteacher Board, providing advice, support and challenge to the Regional Schools’ Commissioner Hannah Woodhouse. She has also undertaken work for Ofsted as an inspector in the recent past. Sally has a young son and daughter and considers parenting to be the most challenging and rewarding job she has done to date.
