Students from across the Cabot Learning Federation (CLF) converged on City Academy for the annual CLF Big Dance, one of the Federation’s flagship Big Events that brings learners together to celebrate excellence through the performing arts.
This year, nine academies – spanning both primary and secondary phases – took part, showcasing an incredible range of talent, energy and creativity through dance.
The event was hosted by CLF Post 16 students, marking the culmination of a year-long project. Each participating academy was paired with a Post 16 student choreographer and coach, who worked closely with their troupe throughout the year to prepare for the spectacular performance.
Weston academies were coached by Post 16 students from Winterstoke Hundred Academy, who once again demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication in supporting the young dancers.
The audience was treated to an exciting programme featuring a diverse mix of musical genres and dance styles.
The atmosphere throughout the event was electric, with academies enthusiastically cheering each other on in a powerful display of unity, encouragement and community spirit.
A packed audience of staff, carers and supporters filled the venue to celebrate the students’ achievements. The performances concluded with huge cheers and applause, recognising the dancers’ commitment, confidence and outstanding talent.
Michelle Sergeant, CLF Big Dance Coordinator, said: “Big Dance is so much more than a performance – it’s about bringing young people together, building confidence, developing leadership and celebrating creativity.
“Watching students of all ages support one another and perform with such passion and enthusiasm is incredibly inspiring. I couldn’t be prouder of every dancer, choreographer and member of staff who made this year’s event such a memorable success.”
The annual Big Dance continues to be one of the highlights of the CLF calendar, providing students with the opportunity to collaborate across academies, develop new skills and create lasting memories while celebrating the power of dance to inspire, connect and bring communities together.
