CO2 monitors in schools

With the Government announcement that CO2 monitors will be provided to all state-funded education settings from September, Fiona Lamdin from BBC Points West visited John Cabot Academy to talk to staff and pupils about this initiative.

Fiona interviewed students about the fact that they are allowed to wear coats in class because windows have to be kept open to reduce the risk of Covid infection. One student talked through how many layers of clothing he was wearing to keep warm! Another student remarked that although it was cold in classrooms they completely understood why windows had to stay open.

Fiona also spoke to the Principal of John Cabot Academy, Kate Willis. Miss Willis said that the monitors gave a reassurance to staff and pupils that the levels were safe, thus reducing any anxiety they might have.

Here is the report.
