Pupils from Frome Vale Academy had an unforgettable experience at the Bristol Beacon as they attended a breathtaking concert featuring the renowned Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
For many of the children – and even the adults – it was an evening of exciting firsts.
Not only did the students have the privilege of watching a live performance by one of the world’s leading orchestras, but they also had the extraordinary opportunity to perform alongside them. This collaborative moment left everyone inspired and deeply moved.
The children sang a song and signed Makaton. Makaton is a unique communication programme that uses symbols (pictures), signs (gestures) and speech to enable people to communicate. Some pupils also learned a ukulele part to play along with the song.
Heidi Hall, music lead at Frome Vale Academy, said: “As music lead, my aim is to not only engage the children in the curriculum but to develop a lifelong love of music.
“My hope for all of our children is that they experience the incredible power of music, not only to listen to but as performers themselves.
“I truly hope that this wonderful concert has a lasting impact on our pupils.”
