Pupils at Minerva Primary Academy’s after-school cooking club enjoyed a fun and delicious activity this week — making mug cakes.
These quick, single-serving treats are made using simple ingredients and cooked in a microwave-safe mug, providing an easy and exciting way for children to learn basic baking skills.
The young chefs had a blast mixing the ingredients and watching the cakes rise — and in some cases, explode — in the microwave.
“Our favourite part was definitely eating the cakes!” said one enthusiastic pupil.
A school spokesperson added: “It’s wonderful to see pupils so engaged and excited about learning in the kitchen.
“Activities like this help build confidence, creativity, and a love for cooking that we hope will stay with them for life.”
