Haywood Village Academy has received a £3,000 donation from Persimmon Homes to support projects that benefit pupils and the wider school community.
Representatives from Persimmon Severn Valley visited the academy to present the funding, alongside local ward councillor Ciaran Cronnelly.
Persimmon is responsible for developing Haywood Village on the southern edge of Weston-super-Mare. Once complete, the development is set to deliver 2,500 homes, two new primary schools and a local centre.
The donation was made through Persimmon’s Community Champions programme, which provides funding to good causes and community organisations in areas where the company is building or has built new homes.
Haywood Village Academy Principal Truon Ellis said:
“We are extremely grateful to Persimmon for this generous donation. The funding will help support opportunities for our pupils and enhance projects that benefit the whole school community.
“It is fantastic to have the support of a local business that is invested in the future of Haywood Village.”
Councillor Ciaran Cronnelly said:
“Haywood Village Academy plays a central role in the local community and this donation will help the school continue its excellent work. I am pleased to see Persimmon supporting local people and investing in initiatives that make a positive difference.”

Persimmon’s sister company, Charles Church, also has an outlet at Haywood Village. The development was highly commended in the Development of the Year category at the 2025 Premier Guarantee Excellence Awards. New homes are currently available at the development starting from £250,000.
