Pupils step back in time with Anglo-Saxons and Vikings

Year 4 pupils at Waycroft Academy have begun their exciting new history topic on Anglo-Saxons and Vikings.

The children started their learning by exploring a range of historical artefacts and using their inference skills to identify who and what they were learning about. They carefully examined the evidence, discussed their ideas and made predictions about the people and period represented by the artefacts.

The pupils then used the information they had gathered to investigate what life may have been like for an Anglo-Saxon or Viking. They considered different aspects of everyday life and used their historical knowledge to build a picture of the past.

A spokesperson said: “The children have made a fantastic start to their Anglo-Saxons and Vikings topic.

“They really enjoyed becoming history detectives, using artefacts and evidence to make their own discoveries about the past. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity and enthusiasm for history.”
