Uphill Academy celebrates second School Games Gold Mark Award

Uphill Village Academy’s sporting excellence has seen it earn the prestigious School Games Gold Mark Award for the second year running.

The School Games Mark is a national award scheme that rewards schools for their commitment to the development of sport and competition across both the school and the wider community.

The School Games Gold Mark Award is an annual government-led recognition from the UK’s Youth Sport Trust. It is awarded to schools that demonstrate significant dedication to promoting physical activity and competition through the School Games programme.

To secure this accolade, schools must meet rigorous criteria including engagement in both intra-school and inter-school sport, promoting inclusive practices, fostering leadership opportunities for pupils, and encouraging young people to be active and try new activities.

Sam Hodder, Principal of Uphill Village Academy, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded the School Games Gold Mark Award for a second consecutive year.

“This recognition is a testament to the hard work and enthusiasm of our pupils, staff, and community in making sport and physical activity an integral part of life at Uphill Village Academy.

“We are committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to develop their confidence, teamwork, and love for being active, both in school and beyond.”
