Children need better access to the arts, with Bristol Old Vic warning that the lack of opportunities for young people to engage with theatre and the arts has reached an emergency point.
Over the past two months, Bristol Old Vic has taken theatre directly into 19 schools across the city, delivering two fantastic brand-new plays to students and bringing the power of live performance into the classroom.
The initiative highlights the importance of ensuring every child has the opportunity to experience the arts, regardless of their background or circumstances.
Rebecca Pearce, a drama teacher at City Academy, Bristol, visited BBC Radio Bristol to speak to presenter Joe Sims about the importance of arts education and why creativity should be an essential part of the school curriculum.
