A Bristol school supporting some of the region’s most vulnerable young people has achieved the highest Ofsted outcome awarded to any school in the South West under the watchdog’s new inspection framework.

Lansdown Park Academy in Stockwood, a pupil referral unit for children who need additional behavioural support, has become the first school in Bristol to receive an ‘exceptional’ grading and the first in the South West to achieve that standard in four separate inspection areas.

The achievement marks a remarkable turnaround for the academy, which was judged ‘inadequate’ four years ago.
